Jet Central keeps detailed documents from the inception of "pulling" parts to assemble a new turbine, to whom first sold and each time it is received for service. Every service begins with the receiving document and notes from the owner (if any) or the "Service / Repair" request from me. For each service regardless of nature, detailed records follow , which list issues found and parts required to service/repair the turbine. Each turbine is tested three times prior to being shipped back to the owner. Again, all three tests are documented.
Sales of pre-owned turbines happen daily. If a prospective buyer contacts us as to the history of the subject turbine, we ask for the serial number, go to the file and the history in short form (date sold, service dates etc.) is offered. In the case of the request of a Lifetime Warranty transfer, this search should take place PRIOR to purchase. There have been cases after the sale of a turbine, when the new owner was told the LTW could not be transferred. Again, we can only share what we know. . .the information in the file: Note: the serial number must come from the seller. Even if we know it, we will not give any information without the seller supplying the serial number to the prospect.
Personally, I think it foolish of anyone who purchases a turbine used (unless known to the buyer personally) that an inquiry to the manufacturer is not made to verify history.
While not related to this thread, should you have a turbine which has been stolen, immediately contact the manufacturer and give the serial number. We have had two cases where a reported stolen turbine was sent in for service. We contacted the owner who reported it stolen to verify it was still missing. The process took its course from there. Please, no questions about details of these incidents.
