It all depends on what batteries you are using..
If you go with 3s on the VXL 3500 you should be fine using a small prop..
but if you want to use 4s the kv of the motor is way to kigh for a boat, even on 2s it will have good rpm to run fast.

hey. I used to be into nitro powered stuff until i got my blade 400 heli that had a brush-less outrunner 420 motor in it. Electric motors these days are so advanced and powerful.

so here is the scoop.

I have a nitro vee. The local pond doesn;t like the Vee as it is very very loud. The pond is very close to my house, and i rather not drive around looking for a new one. Nitro engines also require lots of maintenance.
It also doesnt go very fast.

I would like to use a Velineon 3500 brushless power system as they came down in price to just over $150.00.
I would like to use the same stock receiver found in the vee.
It needs to be LiPo powered as well.

Does anyone know how i could drive the propeller drive directly without off-setting the motor and using gears?
I also need to mount the motor on the aluminum plate that comes with the boat... any ideas on mounting solutions?
Anybody know of any other motors/ESC that are cheep and fast?

People are telling me that this is too much power... but since when is too much power too much? I mean, i need to at least break the sound barrier.

is this directed towards me or the originator of the thread? im going to use the mamba monster 2200 system no vxl for now anyway
