OldScaleGuy,

If you're considering Carbon Fiber, here's a picture of gear I recently purchased from Graph Tech. You can't really tell on this cell phone picture, but the gear is swept forward. I haven't had the chance to fly the airplane yet, but I think nosing over taxiing on grass will be a thing of the past - the wheels are at least 1 1/2 - 2 inches further forward than where a conventional gear would place them and it's infinitely easier to bring the wheels forward like this than rebuilding the landing gear block - although if you're currently building yours you could move it up at this point. The other idea, for this gear or conventional aluminum, is to put a piece of triangle hardwood stock under the gear and splay the wheels and gear forward.

If you're interested in these Carbon Fibers, call Mike at Graph Tech. This gear is "Goldberg Extra Forward Swept." Or email Mike at [email protected]

Edited to add, does this new forum software have issues with email addresses?

Evidently so. OK, ohiocarbon at aol.com
