RE: Goldberg Extra 300
I still use the wire gear, but they are bent forward and the ground handling is excellent. My plane is second hand and quite old. On a bad landing approach I flew into a shallow bank at the end of the runway and snapped one of the stock gear legs clean off at the bend going into bottom of the fuselage. The other gear was bent back a few degrees but okay. I used the good one as a template and bent a new side out of piano wire. I swapped sides on the old gear so it now sweeps forward and made the new gear to match. Works great! I had looked for new carbon fiber or similar gear but didn't feel like making the investment at this time.
