Sounds like it may be a bad esc but it may still be interference.

It's already been suggested to run the antenna straight, I see too many people wind the antenna around the antenna tube into a coil, this reduces reception and can cause interference.

Just from the fact that it's intermitent I'd say there's a good chance it's interference. Try flying the heli in a completely different location miles away a few times to see.
