Default RE: DL-50 engine

ORIGINAL: Speedy-Gonzales

Getting ready to put together a Great Planes 50cc Giant ''Reactor'' with a DL-50 for power. Has any one ran the new DL-55? How does it compare to the DL-50? Any significant difference in power or mechanical upgrades from the DL-50? Same ignition and carb? I am going to use the Slimline Pitts muffler but have heard there is about a 300 rpm drop using this muffler over the stock muffler. Shouldn't really hurt this model's performance much. I am also going to try one of the newly advertised PPPro 204 in. oz. Digital servos on the rudder. These servos are advertised right here on RCU for $28.95! The rest of the servos will be Hitec HS-5645's. I just wanted to give one of these new PPPro servos a try. The written reviews look very good for this servo.

From what I've seen there is a little more power coming out of the DL-55, but for the GP Reactor the the DL-50 should be fine also (did you buy it used or new?) If you bought it new there is no reason you shouldn't go with the 55 they cost pretty much the same.
Also take a look at the power HD-DS120M servos from TBM http://www.troybuiltmodels.com/items/HD-DS120MHV.html or the Power HD 9150's from Hobby City http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s.../15.8kg/.17sec TBM carried them but Hobby city was selling them for so cheap so they dropped them when the DS120's came out.

Ohh, and Tom over at Wildhare RC Carries the power HD line also.
