RE: AMPS hulls & outboards pics& tips
Hi guys
Ok update - I have now sourced the gears as you requested - This includes a manufacturer who will manufcature a super strong set o fgears that can be used in place of th eold ones. The issue is how best to go about this. Firstly I have to try and get an idea of how many to order so could you post on the forum the sorts of numbers that you would be interested in.
It may be necessaryto supply them with spacers and new shafts for two reasons. - 1 in the days that the originals were made machining tolerances were not as accurate as they are today. One of th ereasons that there were "good" units that never seemed to blow gears and "bad" units that did so more often was the accuracy with which th egears were assembled.
With modern CNC machining this is much lless of a problem. There is also the issue of volume. I suspect that there is not a great demand for the parts. Having watched the forum for some time it appears that like all such specialist sites there are a number of enthusiats however it is difficult to guage how many people would actulally be intersted.
HAving said that it now looks as though we may be able to produce the lowere units (nitro outborads and the outdrives) usisng CNC machining. This means we vcan make small batches but will make them more expensive that volume production.
Any thoughts?
Regards
Bob
