Please keep in mind that all props are not created equal. Each has a different "personality" built in by the designers. A Top Flite 12X6 wood prop loads the engine and pushes more air at the same rpms as an APC prop. The trick is that your engine will have more trouble getting the Top Flite prop to turn 10,000 rpm than the APC but if it could you should theoretically go faster. If you tach an APC, MA and Top Flite of all the same size you will find different rpms for each.
Like I have been told before it is best to get a hand full of different props in the "ballpark" so to speak and fly them that way you will find the one that suits your style the best.
