You need to exchange the motor leads and the two outside pot leads. If you have good soldering skill the 3004 is easy to change.
The 42% Y reverser for $20.00 that I quoted is digital and suffers from none of the problems you quoted.
I believe the Smart Fly II is also a very nice unit.
