Hello guys,
I have an edge 60 that uses 2 servos for the elevator installed one at each side of the tail (one per half elevator)... I have a DX7 and a 5ch Rx, I really do not want to buy a 6CH for this one. I have a problem, I guess it is a dummy question for many of you but personally I have no idea how to solve it. I used a Y extension to plug both elevators to the ELEVATOR CHANNEL and well, they go in opposite directions.... I really do not want to get into mixing because the only channel I have free is the GEAR channel which is a pain in the ass because it is used normally for flaps (not in this case) but it is enable by default with the GEAR switch....
How can I set up my elevator using just 1 channel????
Thanks....

Use mix #5 or #6 in the radio then slave an spare channel to the elevator. That is the only way to do it unless you get a reversing-Y or a match-box.

Mmmmmm, now it makes me think, I have read in several forums that Y-reversing arnesses do not work well, and it is better to open up and reverse a servo...
what do you guys think????? Is it easy to do????? I am using a 3004 thus, I do not loose anything trying...

You need to exchange the motor leads and the two outside pot leads. If you have good soldering skill the 3004 is easy to change.
The 42% Y reverser for $20.00 that I quoted is digital and suffers from none of the problems you quoted.
I believe the Smart Fly II is also a very nice unit.

Go here; http://www.chiefaircraft.com/rcmsec/...xtensions.html
The bottom 2 items are Y harness with reverser. Less than $9.00.They will work just fine for what you need to do. It will not cause all the trouble people attribute to servo y reverser's if you install your servos and linkages properly.

Hello,
Well, I ordered the Y-arness but I am sure I will not get it this week and I want to fly!!!!
I'll open a servo and try to reverse the motor....

I guess the motor leads are the ones are soldered to the motor.... what are the outside pot leads????
It would be so cool if anyone could provide pictures....

It depends on which servo you are using. Most of the newer servos have both the pot and the motor installed on the PC board. If this is the case, you will have to cut the copper circuitry and install jumpers. If it's a pot with wires, there will be three wires going to it. In this case just reverse the two outside wires. You may also have to adjust the centering by loosening the screws holding the pot and readjust it. Not an easy job the first time.
I think I would wait for the servo reverser.

JR makes many of their servos in a reversed version.
Just find your servo on their site, and type an "R" at the end of the URL and enter it. If they make it, it will pop up.
Example:

Pot = potentiometer. 3 lug variable resistor used for position feedback in the servo. The last HS 425 I took apart and modified used wire to connect the motor and the pot so it's pretty easy to modify. I'm not sure about the 3004.

Hey John, thanks a lot to take the time to show me those servos, I appreciate it....
I had installed 3004, that is why I wanted to modify one of those because they are already mounted and ready... On the other hand, if you say that it will be too hard, then, I have a couple of 425 exactly like those I think lying around and I guess I could remove the 3004......

I would think that for $20 to $40 for a reversing y-harness vs. $79 for the 6-channel AR 6200 receiver(most LHS will sell for less) you would use a 6-channel receiver. The advantages of sub trim on each horizontal stab and the fact that elev trim works on both elev channels(elev and aux 1 when using mix 5 and 6) would make life so much easier.

Hello guys,
I finally used the mixing in my transmitter with the AR500, I used the GEAR channel as slave.... However, I can not inhibit the SWITCH and whenever I push it, half of the elevator works as a flap!! that during flight would be a catastrophe!! (in the DX7 you can inhibit the FLAP and AUX1 channel but I do not see the way to inhibit the GEAR channel!!!).... anyways, I flew it like that yesterday and I really liked the plane, it flies very nice..... I had about 6-7 flights... all of them good. I appreciate the help in this forum......
However, I ordered a Y-reversing harness for 9.99 and I should get it next week, I think I'll use that because I do not like the idea that the switch is enabled and I can mistakenly push it during flight and it would be a mess!!!!! also, even though I put GEAR-ELEVATOR with sames travel, same everything... I see the GEAR elevator has a bit more of travel than the ELEVATOR one, hard to tell, some milimetes, however, I am sure, because during flight I could see how the plane would loop but moving slightly to one side.....
Anyways, I guess that the Y-reversing harness would definetely get the same travel for both servos and that problem should be solved!!!!!
