RE: Harmony Bipe
So.. yes.. I am smilin!!!!!
Ok, well, second flight was cut short by funny noise and upon landing the flying wires were really loose and sun falling quickly so taker home in one piece.
So.. onto the contest that weekend and a early saturday morning flight. Well.. THIS time the header came loose and so we landed and decided to go through the plane all over and make sure no issues were found elsewhere. Even in this short flight the new heavy duty nonstretch flying wires .. uh.. stretched.
Througout the day I redid the flying wires again... waited till flying had slowed after the first 4 rounds and off to the flight line. Lots of people watching with curiousity and a few guys brought their scales... after lifting the plane they did not even question the weight.
So... roll out and smooooth lift off. This is where I discovered how to get 30 pattern guys in Unison.. FLUTTER!!!!!. Chop the throttle and slow down... all four ailerons were flapping in unison but easily handled, circle the field and a smooth landing.
So far I have (since I have a pound to give) cut off the aierons, made them bigger and stiffer, cut off the old leading edge and thinned the chord of the tips.
I am adding a 1/4 carbon strip to the new hard balsa leading edge and also added hard balsa aileron hard point. this has strengthened the wing considerably, I will be adding carbon reinforcement and fiberglassing the centersection of the wing I believe.
This is in progress now and hope to have it done in a few weeks.
