One thing is for sure: There are restrictive exhausts that will turn an engine into a lame duck. The stock DL/DLE is not one of them from my experience. Mine run awesome on them. I have heard happy people putting this engine in up to 19 pound birds. I wouldn't want that weight but this engine really screams with the stock exhaust on my 17#, 10 oz plane.
