Default RE: YS170 CDI

Amram

I picked up about 4oz of weight with the CDI unit. I run dual 950mah battery packs into the receiver and power the CDI out of the receiver. This gives a level of redundancy on all systems. I'm running the tech-aero dual regulator setup and have been very happy with it. I seem to use about 200-250mah per flight, so I will comfortably fly 3-4 flights on my dual 900 setup before even thinking of charging. Usually after 4 flights I will charge just because thats how I tend to be. I am currently running 30% Heli and the 19X11 prop. Both of my engines now have the low oil conversion, but I still have quite a few gallons of Cool Power 30% heli low smoke that I will use first. I can comfortably fly 11 minutes on a 16oz tank with the CDI setup. With the low smoke setup I see very little smoke trail. Maybe a little more than the 10% oil guys, but not significantly more. I've been doing this for a lot of years and I can't believe that a little extra oil isn't a good thing. I will at some point try the 10% oil setup, but to this point I have not. I am not 100% sure there is enough long term data to be able to validate how long things last. With the engine I received back from YS before the NATS I am keeping track of gallons flown and am flying it exclusively on the low smoke oil. Once I get my second plane flying (hopefully soon), then I will run it on the 10% oil simply because I want to compare the conditions of the engines flown on essentially identical airplanes, identical conditions, and identical patterns flown. I think after 20 gallons or so there should be some sign if there are going to be differences in the 2 and I think this will be valuable information to have.
