I know there is a nitro version (4wd slayer), but has anyone converted or considered converting an electric traxxas slash to nitro? I'm a big RWD stadium truck fan, and I am not a fan of electric.
The first thing that will come to most peoples mind is that this truck has a plastic platform, so a hot nitro engine won't do well. I was thinking I could replace the last ~1/3 of the chassis with metal...all the way back to the transmission. It could easily be tied into the remaining plastic chassis. I am pretty good with metal, and I enjoy being creative and trying strange (sometimes rediculous) things, so I am seriously thinking about trying this.
Next thing would be to put a traxxas nitro tranny on it (from nitro sport, rustler, stampede, all the same parts). The slash shares many rear end parts from traxxas nitro vehicles (hex hubs, A-arms, stub axles, axles, yokes), so a roller will come with many of the necessary parts. I already have a couple trannies from traxxas nitro vehicles (sport, stampede).
Mounting the gas tank would be very simple. I would put receiver batteries towards the front, the place that traxxas should have put them in most of their nitro vehicles. Engine mounts would be very easy to make. Engine choice: OS 18CVR. I think it's a very good motor for a 1/10th scale stadium truck. More than enough power.
thoughts?
Dittch, you can't be serious? I guess the next thing out of your mouth will be..."Hey guys, I would like to make Chicken salad out of Chicken S***. What do you think?" [:'(]
Ok seriously, sounds like a neat idea; however, I've seen some of your "modifications" online....cough cough. Excuse me, I just threw up in my mouth.
