Where did the King Cat thread Go?
Well, to be perfectly honest, when I first saw the original thead being closed off, I was a bit concerned - because the obvious conclusion to draw was "it looks like a cover up for BV or Jetcat".
So I PM'd Ben and asked him why he had closed the thread. I got an explanation that completely satisfied me that his reasoning was in fact nothing to do with protecting any manufacturer's reputation, but instead was done with the best intentions of trying to protect our ability to fly turbines here in the US.
The thread was left up for a while with an invitation from Ben for anyone who wanted to know why it was closed could PM him for an explanation. Leaving the closed thread up could still cause some problems, and there were no perfect solutions at this point, so after some discussion it was decided to remove the thread and advise the thread starter of the reason for doing so. As I understand it, that explanation was sent to him before he re-started this thread, but unfortunately he didn't choose to read his PMs.
If anyone wants to hear the reason why the thread was closed, you are more than welcome to drop me a PM and I will discuss it with you. I have already done so with a number of people who were originally upset/concerned about the removal, who then responded with understanding that Ben is in fact not covering anything up but instead is just trying to help. A lot of the decisions that mod's have to make are fairly easy; some are less easy; sometimes there is no perfect solution and no matter what you do it will not please everyone. This is one of the latter, and it was a tough call for Ben to make. Still, that's why he gets paid the big bucks.
Last but not least - to assuage any lingering concerns about cover-ups.... I have asked Matt (from Jetcat) to post any information he wants about the failure of this one P160, at his convenience. Think back one week and you will remember Jetcat making a public announcement of a problem with a couple of wiring looms - this is a company that goes out of its way to let you know when they know of a problem, not one that needs us to cover problems up.

Gordon
