I usually run about 5 gallons through the engine before I switch over to synthetics. However, there is no magic number, no right or wrong answer as you have probably noticed with all the swaying opinions. Some break in on synthetics, but most will run a few gallons of fuel with something like Lawn Boy through their engines first. I've found a few gallons to mean anything from 3 to 5 from most I've asked.
