The rubber on the road wheels will separate if they get too hot. Happened in North Africa and when they first broke out of the Bocage Country and started gobbling up territory! Those tracks look new and they wanted to make sure nothing was loose and that the tread wasn't coming apart. They were driving that Sherman WAY faster then a real one used to go.
