Default RE: evolution .46 nx engine ??help??

I know this thread is a few months old, but I just wanted to say a couple of things.

First, thanks to all of you who posted positive, helpful, and friendly advise. I was having problems tuning an evo 46nt that I bought from a guy at our field. It was used, but looked brand new. I am not the best at tuning glow engines, so I came here looking for help. I read all the posts and tried a few suggestions before I got mine running absolutly perfect. This engine is very powerful when you get it set up right.

Second, the advise on resetting to factory settings is dead on! And removing the limiters is a MUST! My LS needle was way off. Originally the engine would start but would not transition without cutting off. And, low idle was very high. Also seemed as though once idled down to a certain point, the engine had a mind of its own and would run at whatever RPM it wanted.

I removed both limiters, closed the barrel to 1mm, closed the LS needle, then backed it out 1 and 1/4 turn. I know you guys said 1/5, but 1/4 is easier to find. Started the engine and adjusted the LS until it ran smooth. Then put the blue collar back on the LS needle ( be careful here, the needle will turn on you). After that, I re-adjusted HS and the engine really came to life.

Hated this engine when I first started setting it up, now, I love it. The needles will flote, use fuel tube like suggested here.

Thanks again for all your help, I was able to get this engine running by myself instead of having to ask the guys at the field for help. If I can get this thing to run, anyone can. Be patient and take your time, it can be done.

Now, If only I can find a thread as helpful about the Saito 180 I have mounted in a Hanger-9 P-51, I would be a happy flyer.
