personally i would sacrifice just a little of the scale of the cc01 and go for the scx10, its much more capable. and scince it has sealed bearings and comes with an electroincs box alls you would have to do to take it in water would be to put your electronics in the box and seal it with some silicon!
the sealed bearings and supperior axles will make a big difference and scince the bearings are sealed they dont need any oil, and the internaly of the bearings wont rust
Ever driven a cc01? I have, it's a VERY capable offroad and at crawling. As far as bearings go, the cc01 comes with bushings, so no rust. When you want upgrade to ball bearings, you can choose whatever level of protection that you want. BTW, unless your "superior" axles are stainless, you still need to oil them after getting them wet.
You can get the same (if not better) protection of a electronics box with a handful of balloons and zipties. That's what most people do when they want to take their RCs in the water. If you really wanted a radio box that you could waterproof, they go for as little as about $5.

These are for boats, so they are made to keep water out.
