There is no reason to run a new gas engine more than 100 rpm rich. and will be. Some engines with very hard surfaces take longer to run in.
Thats pretty much where my engine is set. I didn't tach the engine when I set the needles, just set ever so slightly rich from peak. Just enough to know that it isn't lean from peak. Pretty much like I would with any new gasser. Been at this a very long time.
