Is that the flash thats making he glare or is the head button that shiney? If the head button is that smooth and reflective the themp gun may be reading the temp incorrectly. Does the IR gun have emissivity settings?
Point B would be a more accurate temp reading IMO compared to point A. I've never seen an engine run well at 120f
