You need to wonder if the Engine was broke in properly.

Would he sell it minus the engine ?
Check for quality servos (high Torque) and ignition and
Rx batteries. Range check with A engine running at various
speeds (on the ground).

Check all hinges,pushrods and clevis's. Maybe install a NEW
Switch of quality also. What ratio of gas to oil was he running ?
