Naw I wouldn't do that, maybe someone else will have the same problems as you are, this would be the correct place to find the answers.
I thought the lainer kits were all laser cut kits, I know the original kits was stamped out and some items sawed. I wonder if you might have got a older kit, you know old stock NIB sort of a deal.
I have built several of these planes and never have I seen the ribs any thicker than 1/16 inch. Most the time where I can I glue in the lightning holes in the ribs that little bit of balsa is not going to make any diff in the weight of the plane, but makes the rib a whole lot stronger.
BTW what happened to your first wing, I thought you said it wound up straight after all ?
To be honest with you I do check my wings as I build, but I don't put alot of worry into them untill (unless there are really off) I get them covered and finished. Then straighten as needed.
A unfinished wing with a 1/2-1 degree twist is nothing to take out with covering.
Its the bows I worry more about than twists.
