Yes, when you connect the battery to the receiver/esc, they program a little musical diddly into them to let you know things are correct. And you are turning on the Transmitter first then connecting receiver battery? I wonder if you can get to the receiver to check if the crystal is fully installed or even the crystal matches the transmitters frequency. I'm just thinking out loud of possible things to check
