What's the biggest gasser you guys have installed in the CMP hellcat? I have a Fuji 43cc in my Willhobby FW190 and love the way that thing flies with authority, yet slow down plenty with full flaps for landing. My FW was putt putt with the Fuji 32cc EI motor. I have a DLE 30 heading my way from China, just a bit concerned that it may not be enough power to hit 80-90 mph. I like to fly my warbirds fast. Just wondering about how strong the CMP Hellcat airframe is to handle big gasser, and will it handle the weight up front? Please share your experience.
The weakest point on it is the tail section. Actually more the fuse just in front of the stab. That part of the fuse is weak and can cause a flutter in the entire tail when going fast. When I had mine with a saito 150 and I went into a high speed dive at full throttle I could see the tail flutter. I am not talking about one flight surface but the whole tail. On my next one that I added a bulkhead for the scale retract it didn't do it. I have a feeling that the extra bulkhead added just enough strength to keep this from happening. The other weak spot I have heard of is the wing panels at the break between the center section and the outer panels. I glassed mine and put an extra layer in those areas just in case.
