Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the CAI model Panther able to fly with its canopy open just like the full-scale? I noticed in the movie "The Bridges At Toki-ri " that the Panther pilot's would take off from the carrier deck with their canopies open!

Panthers used a sliding canopy, thus they could be open in flight. Most modern Military Jets use rear hinged canopys. , when the front comes up it acts like an airbrake!!!
