I was just thinking the same thing. The spring in it was stretched out and was pulling all the time. I shortened it and thought it would be O.K. Now I am re-considering that. If I had another spring I would try it. I was thinking that the spring may have gotten weak and stretched and when I shortened it, it is still to weak. May-be shorten it some more? Man I wish I had some more springs. Add another item to the list. As for the temps, that is kinda hard to tell. There is alot of snow here and I am constantly getting it on the engine. I don't think the temp gauge I have is picking the temp up right because it is always reading low. I know the engine is hotter than the gauge says.
