Default RE: JBA Engines from Knox Hobbies

ORIGINAL: bbrown2828

has anyone had any experiance with these engines....I just saw a review for them on the from page of rcuniverse and was just wondering about them i am in the process of shopping for two new engines maybe three... just trying to decide what to buy the price of these engines are great... so I was just trying to get some feed back on them
bbrown2828, what is your intended use for the engine you are shopping for. This is the primary factor when selecting an engine. If Ken says the JBA runs well, then the JBA runs well. Of that I have no doubt. I also read the review and determined from the review that this engine would be good for a trainer or casual sport aplication but NOT performance oriented flying. The key in Ken's review is the video of the tach reading and knowing from the review he has an 11x6 prop on a .56 sized engine. With that Ken spun that prop at 11.5K RPM while an OS .46 AX will get the same prop up to 12.5K-13K RPM at about 1 oz less weight.

That being said, the JBA may be the engine for you; it just depends what you expect from the engine you buy.
