RE: Midget Mustang 60 ARF?
I had the tiger striped version powered by a laser 80 4 stroke, it was absolutely fantastic. The only crap items were the u/c mounting plates in the wing which seemed to be held in with wrigleys spearmint, after using epoxy I had no further problems.
With a 14x6 wood prop she'd do several vertical rolls, falling off about 2/3 the way round the 3rd one, loops as big or as small as you like.
With a 14x8 the speed was awesome, a greatly overused word, well warranted in this case.
I mounted the engine inverted and, due to the neat position of the exhaust didn't have much sticking out. Landing on a small strip I needed to be at knee height about 30 to 50 metres from the threshold as it is a very slick ship.
I experienced black wire failure of the battery and the subsequent vertical re-entry into the top soil bent the laser's crankshaft and stuffed the cowl and firewall of the plane. I tried rebuilding the cowl but the amount of cracks have to be seen to be believed, I'll get it together one year.
I tried to buy a new cowl but it was 30% of the kit price so I didn't bother.
It is one fantastic plane and with the 14x8 prop and 10% nitro had the legs of a(white one) similar plane with an asp 91 4stroke. I tried it with a 13x11.5 pattern two blade but on our short strip she just wouldn't get up to flying speed in the 50 or 60 metres available.
I'd really like to build a new one from scratch, based on the fullsized which was fitted retracts and was polished alloy, google midget mustang and you'll see what I mean. I think flaps would be a realy good idea as the fullsize had them.
