martilack welcome to the board. the hsp is more of a off brand and not that it isn't good it's just that the electronics,engine,servo's ect are not up to the higher standards as the big name brands. you shouldn't have any problems with it and it should be fairly durable.the big issue with off brand rc's is parts availability. if you can get parts then you'll be ok.
as far as breaking it in USE A GOOD QUALITY FUEL like o'donnels,tq,ect. in my opinion do not use traxxas fuel as there is too much oil in it and you'll have tuning issues.
do a search for the "heat cycle method" of break in. i use it and it's the best method i've found for ease and durability of the engine.
also you'll need a good temp gun like a ray-tec temp gun. i don't like the $25 temp guns because most are off by 25-50 degree's and i've checked a ton of them.
