If you have the wing tube with the 3 braces leading into a smaller center tube - don't use it. I plan on replacing the one that came with my kit as I have seen one bend on a buddy's plane that should not have done so. TBM sells one for about 70 bucks:

The skymaster one you describe is what had been in The viper Ali's been flying for probably the last 10 months with no problems that I know of.
