Default RE: Hangar 9 Extra 260 Engine Selection

ORIGINAL: hunternfla

YA MINE HAD THE SATIO 180 ON IT AND IT PULLED IT LIKE MAD TOOK IT OFF AND WENT TO A DA 50 WITH A VESS 23B PROP AND COULDENT BEE HAPPER
I am actually getting into giant scale airplanes. This extra would be my first one. DA 50 plus muffler=. Just way to expensive. So, i'm thinking of buying a DLE 55 with a DA 50 pitts muffler.

The only question is how do you mount the engine so that the thrust lines match up and it matches up with the cowling. Where would i find the thrust lines on the engine? I know basically you find the thrust line on the engine and then match it up to the thrust lines on the firewall, but on a Gasoline engine, i have no idea where to find them.

Also, how is the reliability of the DLE engines. I heard that they were DA copies. Would it be enough power to hover with plenty of reserve with the weight of a smoke system?
