RE: DLE30 rear induction conversion!
AJ's,
I'm more impressed with Richard's machining skill than the skill required for the simple program that machined the Syssa cases. I'm waiting for Ralph's review of the engine before I sing along with the Syssa song. I admire Todd's ambition and wish him luck. We'll see how he does if he starts advertizing and has to hire more help.
There are several things I don't like about the Syssa:
Small 8mm crankshaft thread, prefer a 3/8"
Short crankshaft, tough to install a spinner and APC prop.
Short cylinder to propdriver distance, more cylinder sticking out in some installations.
Thin muffler mounting ears, not much material there.
All places not to save weight in my opinion. Otherwise it is a very compact engine and good for smaller lighter airframes. It will be interesting to see how it compares in construction, power and vibration to the DLE.
