You can get interference on all frequencies including 2.4GHz, just a little less likely on 2.4GHz. If any thing gets a short (creates sparks) there is radiation on all frequencies but less on the high end than in the lower end. You are more apt to get interference from reflections on the higher frequencies, i.e. out of phase signals bouncing back from nearby surfaces to the receiver which can cancel out or weaken signals when they are out of phase. Also, shadowing (the blocking by having a conductive object between the transmitter and receiver) is more likely at the higher frequencies.
