Chuck,

the A45 plans show the two YS 45 installations - one for FR and one for FS. The FR uses the canted side RE Hatori header to avoid the nose gear. The FS is mounted at 90 degrees with another custom Hatori header which angles into the fuse forward of the FW. It is essentially a standard SE header except it has a slight drop so that when the engine is mounted with the correct right thrust, the header enters the fuse beside the nose gear nicely.

If you have an FR I think it's the cleaner approach - probably inline with your preferences (based on your Calypso build).

David.
That's right I remember that now...It's been a while since I looked at the print...In fact last weekend I was looking up some Hatori headers and saw the angled .45 header your referring too...Duhhhh..

The Aurora 45 kit that I have was purchased in the 80's...At the time I already had a YS 45 FS engine which I initially thought I would use but then decided to get a FR and the appropriate header instead...All that stuff has been sitting on the shelves since then...lol

I don't have anything against the side exhaust instillation but defiantly prefer the rear exhaust...I wouldn't have let that minor detail keep me from buying this sucker had I seen it for sale...Dang!! [:@]

I'm looking forward to a flight report and happy to see one of these puppies return to the air where they belong...All this sitting on the shelve stuff ain't where it's at...
