All,
Just wondering if anyone has a tank that can do both airsoft and IR battling?? I would think that it could be done ( granted, you would have to unplug and plug in the different systems depending what you wanted to do ) as well as not having barrel recoil. I think it would bring the two phases of the hobby in sync. I would love to IR battle, but I also like my airsoft guns( my dogs and cat hate them though lol). My limited electical knowledge ( being able to solder two wires together without burning myself is a feat) doesn't allow me to do it, but if some of you braniacs look at it. It could happen. Here's to tanking.

Hello 1sgt,

With the DBC/ DBU or the DBCRC2 IR battle systems you can easily have a tank that will do both IR and Airsoft! Nothing special, the 2 DBC systems uses the Heng long K buttom to FIRE the IR LED,,, so not a problem with the left stick up for Airsoft BB fire!

The only problem you could run into is with some clubs that want a cannon flash,, they may just accept the tank rock, that shows that you fired, and that is why they want to see a cannon flash anyway! Or you could mount a flash on the mantle or put it in a spot light setup or something! But electrically there is nothing special you need to do!

Now to be a little fancy you could put a micro switch in the radio at the base of the left stick forward. This will allow you to shoot IR and Airsoft at the same time!

Blitz,
See I knew someone out there would know, also thanks for the other ideas. Not sure a radio TX switch would be a good idea. I could get worked up in a battle and accidently turn to airsoft. Some guy with a $1,000 Tamiya may not appreciate that. I was thinking of locating the change over switch on the body of the tank. Now I just got to put some $ aside for the project. I'm hoping Torpedo Chief will get interested and do a tutorial. What ya say Chief Aye -aye
