Don't know if anyone else has tried this, but I have enjoyed great success replacing the anchor of a muffler (which looks like it came off my K&B .45 airplane engine) with a HPI torque pipe.  I've had it on for 3 season now, and it sounds AWESOME and pulls very strongly.
