Campy . was it the stock set up ? please elaborate , i always liked this plane as a fun little flyer
Yes. This was the stock foam rudder. The one I made, I made up some 3/16" balsa ply (1/8" balsa running vertical with 1/32" running horizontal on each side), used the broken one for a pattern and used the wire from the foam one. I covered it with Midnight Blue Ultracote (the only dark blue I had). It is a little lighter in color, but on the plus side I had to originally add 1 oz to the tail to get it to balance - now I only need 1/2 oz. If you decide to paint the rudder, Tamiya acrylic XF-17 (Sea Blue) is an almost perfect match for the Art-Tech blue. It is a flat, so I give it a light coat of waterbase semi-gloss polyurethane. When I do touchups, the only way you will notice it is if you hold it at an angle - the brush strokes show.

FWIW - the Turnigy 1500 mah battery is a little longer than the stock battery. If you remove the piece of foam at the bottom of the battery compartment the battery fits quite nicely.

I do have aq question you may be able to help with. Where can I get battery connectors to fit the stock connectors on the ESC (4mm bullet with that "fancy" housing)? I had ordered a 1500 and a 3000 battery at the same time. The 3000 had the correct connector, so I cut it off the 3000 and soldered it onto the 1500. On all my other electrics I use Anderson Power Poles (never had a problem with them and they are A LOT easier to solder, connect and disconnect than Deans.
