RE: Dragon question
Dirk and All,
Here is my solutions for flap movement and fixing tail surfaces.
Flaps
I squirted polyurethane foam around the fibreglass hinge to strengthen its grip in the flap. The pushrod is passed through the trailing edge and to the arm of the servo. There is still agood leverage as the flap hinges are at least 25 mm from the centre of rotation.
Tailplane
The aluminium rods were drilled and tapped for 4 mm bolts. Then fly nuts were used to secure the tail plane to the fuselage.
Rudder
The rudder hinged to the tail fin is dropped on a tiller arrangement 8 mm shaft with a steering arm at its bottom and in the fuselage. The 15 kg.cm rudder servo is mounted upsidedown on a 3 mm plywood plate epoxied at an angle. Two pushrods were used for safety between rudder horns and servo arms. This way nothing is visible on the outside. SM
