John,

What is it that you don't like about the steering ? Mine works very well but I did bend down the steering tabs on the nose wheel strut, it tracks really good down the runway on takeoff.

Albert
I've never been a fan of cables for steering and have had better control with a direct drive system. What I experience on grass (with Dragon stock setup) is having to work the rudder control at least 1/2" back and forth until I get up to about 1/2 of rotation speed. It's not that bad to overcome but I think this will be more noticeable on pavement. I've tried tightening up the cables a bit but that caused the retract to unlock on touchdown. What I am after is the ability to keep it as straight as a arrow on the take off roll. Not sure if I'll have the modification done before the NC gathering. BTW, are you still coming?

Mine tracks really well without much rudder input, I do have a lot of expo on the rudder for take off and it switches to low rate as soon as the wheels are up (mix). I'm trying to finish another project and if I get it done I'll be going to the NC event. If I don't make it I'd like to drive down to you one weekend this summer for some flying.

Hello Digitech:

You can put a scale draw of this piece for see if is suitable for another landing gears ?

Or which is the diameter of that "strut".

Many thanks in advance.

Carlos.

Hello!

Still waiting for the maiden []

Another question: I am not satisfied with the mounting of the landing flaps. There´s quite a lot of slackness in the 0° and 90° position. I can´t even reach the 90°. Its nearly 80°

Can someone post detail photos of the way you solved this issue?

Thank you!!

Regards

Dirk

I have no problem getting the 90 degrees but I don't use that much as it is not needed, I'm using about 70 degrees. I did notice the "play" when the flaps are up and the only way to fix it is to "overdrive" the servo a little. I'll take some picture of mine later.

Dirk and All,

Here is my solutions for flap movement and fixing tail surfaces.

Flaps
I squirted polyurethane foam around the fibreglass hinge to strengthen its grip in the flap. The pushrod is passed through the trailing edge and to the arm of the servo. There is still agood leverage as the flap hinges are at least 25 mm from the centre of rotation.

Tailplane
The aluminium rods were drilled and tapped for 4 mm bolts. Then fly nuts were used to secure the tail plane to the fuselage.

Rudder
The rudder hinged to the tail fin is dropped on a tiller arrangement 8 mm shaft with a steering arm at its bottom and in the fuselage. The 15 kg.cm rudder servo is mounted upsidedown on a 3 mm plywood plate epoxied at an angle. Two pushrods were used for safety between rudder horns and servo arms. This way nothing is visible on the outside. SM

Hi,

All of you guys are using big turbines. What do you think of putting a P80 in a Dragon?

I think you would be disappointed with this turbine selection in a Dragon. Not saying it would not fly with 22 pounds of thrust, just don't think it would be worth the effort, and marginal in certain situations. Just my opinion.
