There is no proper timing in the way of universal setting.
It all depends on Initial spark energy, spark gap, spark duration (oscillations), squish, gas/air ratio, compression ratio etc etc.
Tune the timing of your ignition/engine combo, whatever make you choose, for best rpm, and learn to live with any midrange issues you may encounter.
PS
The manual states the proper setting for the MSR ignition that MSR develloped for the MVVS engines, and that is supplied with every new engine. Why should they include all the other ignitions in this world?
