Hanger 9 Cap232
Running a Saito 72 in my Cap 232 and at 4-3/4" it balances just slightly nose down, exactly as I like. No lead. However, I will move the CG forward, maybe 1/4" or 1/2". First time out flying away from me and banked right to head back and got a snap I did not ask for! Don't have that much aerobatic time and that's scary. A club member suggested moving the CG forward, which I have not done yet, as I havent finished crash damage on the plane. It will need re-balance, anyway. Canopies are hard to come by and mine just came in.
My Saito, which is perfect for this plane and real reliable decided to flame out and I tried to make the field when I should have settled for a straight in from loss of power. So. . . .as I banked left (serious mistake) and tried to keep the nose up, it just FELL out of the sky from about 20 feet. Saw the wing fly off and knew I had damage. After talking with several pilots on this site I have now learned how to land a dead stick tapered wing. . . .NOT like a constant chord wing. I tried to turn to get some wind under the wings and doing that also slowed the plane=tip stall. Should be up and running in a couple days, as soon as the field dries out.
