Default RE: need help choosing first rc plane.

The nice thing about getting into a hobby as old as this one is that the path is well beaten for beginners. A trainer airplane (that's what every maker calls them) is purpose built to survive an ameteur pilots attempts at control. You will have the same lessons to learn as other beginners, and there's nothing wrong with learning them on the same airplanes.

One piece of advice I'll give here is to not pick planes based on how well they crash. I can't tell you how many times I've heard guys praising those Super Cubs and saying they've crashed them 15-20 times! I know guys who learned on good glow trainers and crashed no times. Buy a plane that flies well (any maker's glow trainer) and get good instruction. No, you can't drill it into the ground and have it glued back up on the same day flying it again. But avoiding that is the purpose of an instructor.
