You said the tranny was on channel 30?
Swapping receiver crystals is just fine... it's the transmitting stuff you aren't
supposed to tinker with. (though lots of people do it anyhow, I know.)

Anyways, just pickup a Futaba Dual Conversion crystal for the receiver... channel 30.

It "might" be worth a shot.
If it were me, I'd find a buddy with a Futaba receiver already on 30,
and see if your transmitter even works, to begin with... before spending more dough.
