RE: bummer
I was out on Saturday, got two flights in and then the wind picked up. Weather.com said 8 mph winds, I could have sworn it felt like 10-12. One of the other member shows up and pulls out his hand-held Kestrel 1000 anemometer. Checks the wind...7.9 mph. Darn!! Anyway, it was getting a bit too windy for a high wing plane, so I called it a day. Yesterday, the trees around the house were blowing worse than on Saturday, so I didn't even load the planes up. Weather.com was calling for 12-14 mph winds. One of our members just put a slow poke into the roof of the nearby church flying in too high of wind, so I wasn't going to push it. So far, next Saturday is looking good. Some of the guys at the club and I were discussing on Saturday that good flying weather around York, PA doesn't really start until after July. August to November is when the winds are still and the weather is comfortable enough to fly.
