was all ready to fly yesterday, loaded four of the planes in the truck. Father inlaw came over. He was anxious to fly the trainer I gave him. Cooler with ice and water all good to go. Turned the key on the truck, nothing! Wouldn't start, tried to jump start it, no luck. Theft deterent light illiuminated, parking lamps illuminated, and stayed on even after I removed the key. It's a chevy 2500 silverado. I think the key lost the code somehow. Anyway, About all I could do was start the father inlaws plane in the back yard and teach him some things about tuning the engine. Oh well, will try and fly one night this week. I'm anxious to maiden the PA addiction!

Uh-oh... Ford vs. Chevy!!!!
I was going to head on out yesterday also, but (there is always a but, isn't there?) I was cut off at the pass and had to do some honey-do's. Hey, I though it was Fathers Day and I could do what I wanted to do!!! Ah yes.. I can do anything I want to do as long as it's on the honey-do list, I guess.
Anyway, no flying yesterday. Darn!!!
Yeah, Bill, perhaps this week. Usually, several of us take planes to work on Wednesday and go directly to the field from work. Hopefully the weather and wind will cooperate on Wednesday.

Ha, Ha, Ha, I got to fly yesterday in the very strong winds. I was doing some cuban 8's and someone said I hear something, you better land. When I was on final, the nose was pitched quite high, look like I was getting ready to drop a tail hook. Anyways, got in on the ground and the whole underside of the covering had come off. Ultracote on the top, ribs on the bottom. So back to the shop and mom helped recover the bottom. I think what happen was, I was using a dull knife and when I went to cut the top covering off I pressed to hard and cut through the bottom covering. Boy, see if I let my wife cover again

I was out on Saturday, got two flights in and then the wind picked up. Weather.com said 8 mph winds, I could have sworn it felt like 10-12. One of the other member shows up and pulls out his hand-held Kestrel 1000 anemometer. Checks the wind...7.9 mph. Darn!! Anyway, it was getting a bit too windy for a high wing plane, so I called it a day. Yesterday, the trees around the house were blowing worse than on Saturday, so I didn't even load the planes up. Weather.com was calling for 12-14 mph winds. One of our members just put a slow poke into the roof of the nearby church flying in too high of wind, so I wasn't going to push it. So far, next Saturday is looking good. Some of the guys at the club and I were discussing on Saturday that good flying weather around York, PA doesn't really start until after July. August to November is when the winds are still and the weather is comfortable enough to fly.

Hey Bill,
That's a bummer, but aleast you where at home
when she wouldn't start.
I gave up a great flying weekend because my
Daughter drove up from FLA. for Fathers Day.
She left this morning and I miss her already.
So i'll happily wait till next week end.

Yes we all know it's a matter of when, not if. Still not good though.
I was out at our club Fun Fly Saturday and we had a very near miss of a vintage plane and a really nice bi plane.
When everyone gasped I commented that was really close and was told that the guy that was at fault already had "5 confirmed kills" doing the same thing.
I think once I get my new plane that is under construction into the air I will avoid flying when this guy is airborne.
