RE: Seagull Models extra 300s .75
Thanks for the reply posts. Although I regret hearing the same problem has been experienced by others (ghoffman), it's comforting to know that I am not alone! Da Rock's post is right on target for describing what I am experiencing with this plane. This is my first tail dragger, and I am finding out the hard way that it requires a different flying technique than I am used to (compared to my favorite plane - a Super Kaos). I now know that I should have searched out some instruction prior to soloing the Extra 300s....
After doing some measuring, it appears that the Extra has no built in side thrust. Therefore, as an experiment, I plan on placing washers to add a degree or two of right thrust. On the next calm day, I will then taxi and do some "near" takeoff runs to see if the left pull has improved. Results will dictate if further thrust angle adjustments are warranted.
Also interested to see how the throttle-rudder mixing works (ghoffman). What was the mix "program"? Will the plane now constantly "slip" while flying do to the mix? Please post your results!
