RE: PA extra 260 IPA
Update:
Well, it's been a few weeks now with the extra 260. So far I would guess I have maybe 20 or 25 flights on it. interestingly enough, I found out just how rugged this plane is. My flying location is a smallish baseball field at a park behind my house. Whenever there is no one around, I will walk back there for a quick flight or 2. Well, the other day, I misjudged the distance to the backstop, and grazed it with the left wing while turning onto final. I panicked and thought the plane was toast, so I chopped the throttle and let it flop to the ground. No real damage other than a small tear in the covering on the outer edge of the wing-tip. The landing gear didn't break even though it fell to the ground from about 8 feet up. I was surprised to say the least. The only issue I have encountered so far is that the cowling is VERY thin, and cracks easily. Both of the cracks in the cowling are my own fault, from being heavy-handed with the plane. As far as the flying characteristics, I still love this plane alot! It's still a much more caipable plane than it's current pilot. Now that I am more comfortable with the plane, I have been pushing it a lot harder than before, and my flight times have dropped down to around 10 minutes give or take a minute or so. This is mostly due to the long vertical climbs that I like to do so that I have lots of room for my latest favorite trick, the flat spin. It takes a bit of luck (for me at least) to get the extra to do it, but once you get it going, it looks cool as he** to see that thing spinning down in a real flat spin. This plane is likely going to be my main flyer for some time to come. I still highly recommend this plane.
