I have a senior telemaster that was build from a kit years ago. Well on my way to the field I shatter 1 ½ foot of it. What is the best way to repair it but keep in mind that I never built any type of aircraft before but I really want to keep it as originally as possible? I know that I can buy the ARF kit and if so will the wing from this kit work also? And if it can be repaired what will I need and where will the parts from? Thanks in advance...
Where did you shatter the wing? Actually, to repair a broken wing it is quite simple. If the there is a undamaged rib or even a rib in the unbroken part of the wing that is you can get to you can use a sheet of paper, trim it to match the rib, then you will have a template. Or if the ribs are broken you can use 1/16 balsa and laminate them crosswise, use thin CA to glue it. Glue with epoxy or carpenters glue hard wood doublers in the each side of both spars, On the leading edge get a piece of balsa and sand/trim into shape and use light ply or hard balsa as a doubler on the inside. On the trailing edge use thin CA and 3/4 oz. fiberglass and over lay the damaged area. Recover the area as needed. Rebalance as someone had stated before. Depending upon the extent of the damage it should take about 3 hours to fix.
