I did mine basically the same way. You can angle the ''guide'' to make it accessible from the cowl opening, or run it back with a bellcrank to the side of the fuse. Both of my dle's are ''push on'' ''pull off''.

Is that the stock muffler. Did you put a wire coil inside or just tap the muffler for your smoke setup?
